Welcome Spring!

I hope these April showers do in fact bring May flowers... it's chilly!  Spring is such a wonderful time in school- we are getting outside, but also truly enjoying each other's company inside as well.  Students have grown so much, and are becoming so mature.  I love to watch their personalities blossom as their minds become sponges for information and ideas!

Recent Events:

Author Visit:  Scott Magoon came to Happy Hollow and shared his enthusiasm for writing, some of his stories, his technology, and his energy.  The children loved it! See if you can find a few of his books at the library over the vacation! Here are a couple of pictures:

Flat Stanley: The children have been sharing the wonderful posters and slide shows that have come back from Flat Stanley's travels.  Thank you so much for your support of this fun project, and thanks to all the distant friends and relatives!  There is a huge map in the main hallways which will show all of the destinations where they have travelled in all of 2nd grade.

Upcoming Events:

First, as you know our field trip to The Butterfly Place in Westford, MA is this Friday April 12.  The chaperones are Melissa Krochmal, Jen Sacchetti, Melissa Ricci and Haneen Farhan. Please watch for a reminder about what to bring and wear... it will come home Thursday.

Next, this Saturday the 2nd grade teachers, as part of their auction donation, are inviting families to join them for Wayland Cleans Up, an annual event to show our support for the environment.  A flyer went home yesterday.  We hope you can make it!

Finally, we need two things this time of year:

  • First, we run short of supplies.  If anyone can send in markers, glue sticks, white board markers OR a handheld pencil sharpener to get us to the end of the year, we would appreciate it!
  • Second, the Happy Hollow Garden is almost full of seeds that have been "planted with love" by classes around the school.  If you can help water please sign up on this LINK.
I hope you all enjoy your Spring break, with family, friends, and the fresh air and nature that is calling to us all!
