Monday Message February 27, 2017

Hello families-

I hope you had a wonderful vacation!  I visited my daughter and brother in Colorado, and then went to see my son in Burlington Vermont.  I am full of wonderful family memories!

First, I want to share some sad news.  Josiah's family moved over the vacation, and he is coming to school tomorrow for his last day. The students showed strong emotions to this news today, and together we created touching cards and letters.  If you want to stay in touch with him, please let me know and I will share this with his family.

Next, we have some things to look forward to!  This Friday is "Spirit Day" thanks to our Student Council,
and so children can dress in Pajamas (and bring a SMALL stuffed animal- if it can fit into their backpack.).  Each month there will be a theme- we will let you know as they are announced.

Also- we will be planting seeds indoors in the next couple of weeks, to eventually grow vegetables in our school garden!  If you'd like to volunteer for this activity, please let me know and I'll let you know the date as we get closer.

Finally- Almost everyone has signed up for a conference, so I will contact those whom I have not heard from.  I look forward to sharing your child's progress and setting goals for the rest of the year.  Click this link if you need a reminder of your time.

If you have any questions or concerns, about homework or any topic, please let me know.  There are also updates on the "Weekly Notices" on the back of the Reading Log, and on our Class Blog.  This email is posted there for future reference.

Have a great week!
Deborah

Monday Message- Snow Day!

Happy Snow Day- again!  I think Winter is making up for lost time! I hope you are enjoying playing outside or snuggling up inside- or both!

Here is an update of what's coming up in Room 6:

Valentine's Day💖

On Friday we began decorating our little tissue box "creatures" in class. We will have a little time to finish tomorrow, Tuesday, but they might not look too polished. Feel free to continue the process after they come home!  If you send in Valentine's, please use this link to our Class List to make sure you have one for everyone. Simplicity is fine.  Any candy will be sent home, so families can decide if, how and when it should be consumed. 😁

Vacation

I hope your family enjoys our Winter break!  I will be visiting my daughter and brother in Colorado! 🏔  Remember that taking a good book or 2 with you as you travel is something children can do just like adults do, in fact they usually have even more free time (at least that was my experience with my own children!)

Conferences

I can see that several of you already signed up for your child's Spring Conference- thank you!  If you have not, please use this link to our Doodle Poll (it is also on the blog, so you can check the time you signed up for as it gets closer if necessary).  Also please let me know if you have any specific concerns, so I can be prepared.

Finally, please remember to send in snow gear for some fun in the snow this week!  Please label all gloves, hats, snowpants and jackets.   Thank you!!!
