Mid May News...

Hello families-
I'll try to make this brief since I know how precious time is in May with little ones!

First, we've been engaging in much science this past week or two!
* Building birds nests in cooperative groups (our STEAM curriculum)

* Growing, observing, and finally releasing Painted Lady butterflies into our Happy Hollow garden!

In Social Studies, we've been learning about Communities through interviews with community workers (yourselves!)... thanks for helping with this!

Next we will begin building our Room 6 Community!  We have received wood from Connor's family (thank you!).

Meanwhile we have finally finished our intense math unit on 3-digit addition and subtraction.  The children did well!  They will benefit from continued exposure to coins and exchanging money.  We are moving on to our LAST unit - Data and Measurement.

In Writing we are sharing our wonderful research projects on the Continents, and starting to write Poetry.  It is fun, beautiful and heartwarming.  I love this time of year!!

Thanks to everyone for sending back the permission forms for our upcoming field trip to the North End, this Friday, May 24.  Chaperones will be receiving information in the next couple of days. Everyone has a current CORI form, but many are expiring this year so check with the office if your's is at the 3-year mark.

Finally, please save the date for our Second Grade Open House on Thursday, June 6 from 5-5:30, and then stay for the Happy Hollow Picnic and celebration of Mr. Lee from 5:30 to 7:30.  We are hoping you can make it- there will be so much to show you!

Thanks again for your continued support.

Ms. Niles and Ms. Nolan
